Bike Porn

not a bumper day for training. i woke early to get an hour in on the trainer and made it to the 40 minute mark. to sum up my day: i feel like poop. shivering all morning long in my office barely able to concentrate on the file at hand. thank gawd it was a no appointment day.

i'm missing masters tonight. i like masters. a lot. coach john is a task master extraordinaire. some might even call our hour and a half of fun grueling. nothing like swimming especially when it is with a group of quality people. hey, if you can't have fun why bother. for a small town we have a good membership. (over 60 active members)

on to the juicy stuff. i bought my giant trinity 2 on advice from the local shop. not exactly tri specialists but i love the ride. the frame is outstanding. i changed out a few minor components (the original seat was horrid). i still want new racing wheels and a power meter.

snow covered trails

what a great run. the program had an endurance run and a gym workout for today. so it was a busy day all round. joined up with doc r and d for a snow covered trail run along the lakefront. nice. the real difference in enjoying this type slippery run of has been the addition of yak trax. i had been out for a run a awhile back with the co-owner of the local running store and she suggested them for a little more confidence in our long, icy winters. boy was she right. after being made fun of a few weeks back, the boys were asking today, "so how much are those things"? ah, victory.

busy day. did it all today. breakfast and cartoons with the family, run, birthday party with my daughters friends at the local indoor play place, call mom & brother, play with baby boy, go to gym, finish wood working project, take family out to dinner (in another town 40 min. away), shop for kids stuff, blog. gimme an f-ing medal already.

friday

high-tech fix.

a.k.a. today's macgaverism.

no this was not done as a prank. and yes, it apparently did solve a problem with our office all-in-one.

on training: i did it! the first time since pre-Prestige 1/2 im I accomplished two WO's in one day. wooo-hoo. considering the other distractions in my life right now it was a huge physcological victory. scott (new coach) has me at 10 hours a week right now and i am enthused about trying to fit it all in. today it's an hour on the trainer. yuk. doesn't matter what time a year it is, i don't like the trainer. a neccessary evil. considering this was my weakest area in the '07 season, i have to keep believing the time in now will make a difference come road season in april.

went to a swoire at my physical trainers home at lunch. she put on an amazing spread. i only got to a few appies as i was to busy drinking wine, socializing, and have reflexology performed on my feet. mmmmm nice. thanks c-l. kc has done an amazing job helping me to transform the 'ol bod.

My new coach

OK, 8 weeks of fatherhood the second time around has taken its toll on me. It's now time to jump on the blogging bandwagon once again. In order to improve my perforamance for the '08 season I have signed on with a coach from Penticton. Scott MacMillan of Factor 9 tri-coaching. check out his web site. http://www.f9tc.com/ Gotta love AC/DC

It's what time? already!

i like to cook. or I just may have too much energy to burn. i'm not doing the kelowna 1/2 marathon this year as a season wind-up. i am far to anxious about the bubble bursting. the one on the female's belly that i share a house with. the last two days have been spent sans exercise. i have a stiff knee for some reason and decided to rest it. two acquaintances and i are doing a mock 1/2 marathon tomorrow at 7:00 am. it will be an easy pace as there is no pressure. (probably a 1:50) back to the cooking. we came home last night from our usual haunt and i decided to pop a turkey in the oven. a 15 lbs turkey. we aren't having a family gathering of any sort, just us 3. i thought it would be a good idea to have pre-made meals ready for when the lady that hangs here becomes my wife again and the 3 of us becomes 4. gee, isn't that smart. have i also mentioned that i picked up a 5 lbs smoked ham two days ago as well? we now have enough flipping food in the refrigerator to last us until spring thaw.

my day today was too crowded. get up, go to work, pick up coffees etc., go home, take family to stores for shopping, come home, finish winter prep of back yard, make dinner for guests, oh sh#t - forgot beer & dessert-, go back to store... tomorrow will be just as busy. after the run all that food needs to put into casseroles and frozen. ya know, if that belly pops, it's going to put real crimp in my preparation schedule.

Vanity

i visited my favourite dentist this morning. unlike the all the jokes and stereotypes, i enjoy going to the dentist office. doc d is funny, interesting, dedicated and the staff treat me like royalty. the most important issue here is that they laugh at my schtik. i love all of them.

i started my obsession with triathlon about the same time i had my braces put on. braces weren't necessary but i was fed up with lower teeth crowding, a poor bite, and I hate to say it, i have always felt insecure about my smile. the braces came off this summer, not before the prestige 1/2 iron, damit, and i liked my smile. it was nice to have near perfect teeth; however, years of indulging my caffine addiction appeared to have caught up with me. my smile wasn't a dazzling, soap-star white. i shouldn't care, after all, i'm a male who is secure and succesful. hmm, i've come through two years of discomfort i deserve a dazzling smile. men can be worse than women in this regard.

my visit to doc d was to check up on my bleaching. it's an easy process. totally painless, well, sort of. I have one tooth that has become painfully sensitive. Even sensodine tooth paste hasn't helped. the process is wonderful. you get to see results day-by-day. very gratifying. one more week to "soap-star" status. that sexy smile will be mine. thanks doc.
